trust

i believe we paint what we need the most in our lives. so i just wanted to share the hidden story woven behind my new trust painting. i love story. and i really feel like i am getting back to telling a story in my paintings. for a while, it felt like i just needed to focus on technique.

this painting seriously has to be my new favorite. i have been exploring new themes and symbolism in my paintings lately.

rain. i really have been painting a ton of rain… which has kind of become a theme in my life lately. we have had two major wild fires in my city in the last two years. these wild fires have seriously damaged our area. so as i have been praying for rain in colorado, rain seems to be a continual theme in my paintings. and after a crazy wild fire in june, we actually have been getting a ton of rain here. which is a major answer to prayer.

i think rain also symbolizes blessing and fruitfulness and growth. rain brings about new life.

i have also started painting deer. i feel like i need to start painting what i know. and here in colorado we have a ton of deer. they really are a very majestic animal. deer have a beautiful freedom and gracefulness in their movements. there is also an innocence about them.

i am learning a lot about resting lately. so this deer has it’s eyes closed to symbolize resting. i am also learning to trust… therefore the word trust on the deer.

i have been drawn to a lot deep blues lately. i think this color symbolizes a deep deep peace. the deer is surrounded by this very deep peace. and the heart on the deer means that the deer’s heart is at peace.

the growth coming out of the antlers symbolizes new growth. the only kind of growth that can come from true rest and peace.

so that is what has been coming out in my paintings lately. i have another one to share soon.

thanks for sharing your story and beautiful painting. I love hearing about the inspiration behind the art, the sharing of all the tender and truth that finds itself represented in work that comes from the hands which I believe are tied to the heart. There is also a trusting that comes when sharing such things as it can open us up to our vulnerabilities. I am drawn to honest and authentic artwork. Always enjoy visiting your blog.

I like your painting, the deer is a sweet touch. Glad the rain came through.

In my latest post, I have a hummingbird and a mermaid in my art journal spread. Hummingbirds represent the potential power of small concepts or flighty thoughts. Mermaids could mean femininity, the unseen, or mysterious beauty.
