before and after painting
if you are an artist, you understand that canvases are like your real estate. they are first of all, an investment financially. and if they don’t sell or aren’t hanging in a gallery or your house, most likely they are just sitting in your closets. so it’s only normal to go through all of your old paintings and paint over any that you don’t like. you would be surprised how many of my paintings are recycled canvases.
one thing that i am finding as i paint over old paintings, is that i actually prefer the texture of layers. sometimes painting over something brings new inspiration. and leaving little bits of the original painting showing through is always fun. in addition to completely painting over an old painting, i have been revamping some. i keep little elements of the first one but change it up enough to fit my style now. i wanted to share with you a before and after of one of these paintings. i think you can really see the evolution of my style.
what do you think?
I love these paintings!
I like them both, Wendy!!
