fabric for upholstered headboard?

November 5, 2011

ok friends, i am trying to make a decision in what fabric i want to use for an upholstered headboard. i want something fun and funky with tons of pattern. we have grey and yellow in our bedroom with this chevron piece of furniture. so the store i am looking at purchasing fabric from has all of their upholstery fabric on sale for half off tomorrow and i need to make a quick decision. i really like the yellow chevron but i am thinking that is too much chevron for the room. the yellow floral pattern with the grey parrots, well, just makes me super happy. the grey pattern is perfect but i really want a punch of color since i have a ton of neutrals already in the room. what’s your vote?

The second two would both be lovely – I’d lean ever so slightly for the grey pattern ~ still leaves you flexibility to punch up the color elsewhere or in your linens. Yet the parrot is a fun surprising twist. The headboard will be lovely no matter what you pick! And yes, I agree the yellow might be chevron overload. You could use it for a pillow, perhaps?

I vote for the parrot fabric to cover the headboard,
with varying shades of grey sheets, cases, duvet, etc.

I actually used to be in the design business and for balance with your armoire I think the Grey pattern for the headboard would work best, and perhaps use both of the other two as accent pillows. The gray at least gives you the option of changing out your color scheme in the future. If you dont care about that, then I would go with the Yellow/Parrot for the headboard. But those parrots would make awesome pillows!! Cool choices!!

Love the second two but would probably go for the third as more neutral and can add punches of colours with other things.

Am sure whatever you choose will be lovely as you did such a wonderful job on your basement ….. very talented .

Please do show us the end result.

You have an amazing sense of colors. I love the variety on your blog. Have linked to other artists’ sites from here too. Restful and inspiring.

I say go for the fabric that makes you happy–the yellow pattern with the parrots! Seeing that pattern near my bed would make getting up a lot easier and fun, and put me in a great mood right off the bat (I’m NOT a morning person!). Can’t wait to see what you picked!

i think i would go with the yellow pattern with the grey parrots! so fun!! just make sure that the fabric repeat allows you enough parrots so that you can see them above the pillows etc. i think that you should use the yellow chevron with the grey pattern fabric as cording for a pop affect.

the pop affect refers to throw pillow!
