her creative space

April 18, 2011

i spent some time cleaning my studio last week. it needed some major organization to say the least. somehow my studio ends up being the catch all room. between that, painting and sewing, it can become a major disaster zone. but i actually put all of my supplies away. can you believe it? and i have been doing a pretty good job keeping it clean.

this is the sight right now on my kitchen table. my daughter’s creative space looks a little bit like what mine did before i cleaned. when i first saw it this morning, i was a little bit frustrated. another mess to clean up. sometimes it feels like that is all i ever do.

when i looked closer at the mess, it really made me happy. it is a beautiful mess. i love to see all of her explorations with color and line. so i just thought i would share.

Children’s art is so precious, and so messy! My children like to paint with me and it has allowed me to let go my sense of control and perfection.
And from mother to another I completely understand the feeling of always cleaning up messes….I am glad to see someone who takes delight in their kids expression!

Children’s art; just adorable to say the least! I have taught art for over 15 years to 5-7yrs. old, the most rewarding of all.
    Happy Monday.

This is so sweet Wendy! I know what you mean, yet another mess, I am glad you paused and saw the beauty. It is great. And I always think/remember before long that mess will be gone and then I will be wishing for it back.
