mind if i ramble?
as i sit typing this, i am looking outside to the one tree in our backyard that has finally agreed that it is spring. there are only a few pink blooms beginning to open up. everything is wet from last night’s rain, not snow. which is unusual for colorado. trust me, there are plenty of other places in colorado where it is snowing right now, so i am thankful. i am drinking a cup of coffee (which i shouldn’t be drinking because of health reasons). and it tastes so wonderful!!! there is just something about a rainy foggy morning that calls for a cup of coffee, don’t you agree?
i really do love rain. maybe it’s because we don’t get a lot of rain in colorado. we have more days of sunshine than other states. maybe i would feel different about rain if i lived in oregon. who knows?
i am laughing because there is one little circle of green grass in our yard. the other day i couldn’t figure it out. where did this one little patch of green grass come from? and why was it in a perfect little circle? then i realized that the lid to my kids’ turtle sandbox had been sitting in the grass for some time now, trapping all of the moisture close to the ground so the grass could grow. that little patch of grass makes me happy.
i feel so much more productive during the spring. like my creativity is endless. everything feels so new and full of life. possibility is all around me. there is the promise of summer right around the corner. warm days of soaking in sun. long days and warm evenings.
we just discovered this week that we have an awesome view of the local baseball field. every time they win a game, there are glorious fireworks. and we can see them perfectly from the deck in our backyard. it will be our first summer in this house. and our first summer with a backyard. i honestly can’t wait!
thanks for letting me ramble a bit. the sun is beginning to fight it’s way through the clouds, my cup of coffee is sadly gone and my studio is calling.
