before & after

February 17, 2011

so the day is finally here for the big reveal. there were a few moments when i was refinishing this piece that i second guessed myself. it was such a beautiful art deco piece that i almost felt guilty painting it. but i just kept going back to the fact that it was really not in the best shape and there was no way i could have completely restored it to it’s original beauty. besides, i knew that i would love it better painted anyways.

in case you don’t remember what it looked like before, here it is again.

before and after

before

and here is the after! i think i am in love and i am so happy with how it turned out. i really do love pattern and i think it is going to be a showstopper in my bedroom.

Wow! That is a lot of work, and beautiful. I don’t know if I could have done it though – covering up that beautiful wood, but it is sooo you! I love it!

catherine, it did take forever to tape out the stripes. i think i spent about three full days on the entire project. the most time consuming was figuring out exactly how to do the stripes. that took the longest, but towards the end i was a pro and it was super easy. i think i could do it in my sleep now. lol!

YES, ONCE YOU GET INTO SOMETHING like that it does start to go quicker. I am amazed you finished in three days!
