valentine’s gift tags

February 10, 2011

i recently bought some new clothes. and while i was clipping the price tags, inspiration struck. what an awesome thing to alter. they are just the right size for making your very own gift tags. no one will ever know that it came from your new pair of jeans and you can custom make them for any occasion.

what you will need:

price tags

gesso

vintage paper

matte medium

spray inks

stamps or markers

acrylic paint

twine

it’s simple. cover both sides of the tags in gesso. let dry. use matte medium to collage vintage papers onto the tag. let dry. add another coat of gesso around the edges of your collaged paper. let dry. spray with inks and blot with a paper towel or wet wipe. again let dry. repeat all of the steps on both sides of the tag. finish by stamping personal messages with acrylic paint on the tag. or simply write with a marker. attach to gift with twine. enjoy!

Very cool Wendy! Where do you get those materials I’ve never heard of (gusso, matt medium, spray inks)? Love you!

gesso and matte medium you can get at any craft store. you could probably just use glue for the matte medium. and gesso is like a very thick white paint that works almost like primer when you are painting. spray inks you have to order online.

or you could just use paint if you didn’t want to use spray inks. just water down the paint and put it on with paintbrush.
