inspired by…

January 6, 2011

i haven’t done one of these in a while, so i thought i would share the biggest artist crushes i have had in a while. in fact, i don’t think i have connected with any other artist as much i have with this amazing artist. when i grow up, i want to be just like her. creativity just oozes out of her. and i think we are very similar in our interests. we love fashion, home decor and cooking. whenever i am looking for some inspiration, i head on over to her blog. who am i talking about? alisa burke.

alisa is always sharing tutorials on how to alter clothes, like here, and here, and my favorite one here. she is always making a mess. she paints and stitches on fabric like here, and here, and here. and she makes yummy food like this, and this, and i am so making this. and she makes the coolest handbags ever! ok, ok… can you tell i have read her blog from start to finish a few times? i know i am just a little bit obsessed. like i said, when i grow up i want to be just like her, only me of course. she was the inspiration for this handbag that i made.

i just found out that alisa burke is coming to my backyard to teach a workshop this october and i seriously want to go. she is going to be teaching at art camp for women. it seems nearly impossible that i would be able to go, but i am not ruling it out just yet. it is a whole week long. i am not sure how my family would do without me for a whole week. i have never done anything for myself like this. but can you imagine? a whole week for just me being able to paint and play. wouldn’t it be awesome? i can dream. and i am going to start buttering up my husband now. we’ll see. who knows what can happen?

I think you should go. Seriously, this sounds like an awesome experience! There’s time to save up for it, and maybe you could ask for help from family to take care of the girls?
