rainy day

mixed media collage

hi friends! welcome back. i hope you had a nice weekend. i took an extra long weekend to take a much needed blog and social media break. sometimes you just have to step back for a little while. i did a little decluttering of my home. I always find that if I spend a little time getting rid of some of the clutter, I have more space to be creative. I love that feeling when you just recently clean things up a bit and you can finally take a deep breath. i always feel a little more inspired and rejuvenated!!!

it’s week 20 of 52 weeks. today we are supposed to document a rainy day. i love rainy days, especially in Colorado. although, we hardly ever have a whole day of raining here. during the summer, we often have afternoon thunderstorms. and there is nothing like a good thunderstorm to make you feel refreshed and awakened during a hot stifling summer. it breaks up the day, provides relief from the heat and stirs the soul. there is something magical about a thunderstorm. it makes me feel more alive, renewed and empowered. i actually love getting a nice cup of tea and settling down with my paint brush as the sights and sounds of a thunderstorm fill the air. i hope it rains today.

Mmm, I agree – thunderstorms are a little magical! And the brief break from the heat has to feel lovely.

Hi there – I understand about needing to take a break from all things electronic. It’s been such a thrill to embrace this other side of life – but it’s really tiring. It moves so fast. Love your painting above. It’s great to see vibrant and energetic works.

    Cheers

I love your painting here! I’m in Western Australia so it’s winter here, and although we are usually in drought we have had a heap of rain in the last couple of weeks. There’s nothing like the smell of rain in the air! I can totally relate to the inspiration!
