launching a collection

April 16, 2010

so megan over on crafting an MBA, really has me thinking! she recently wrote a post titled making a product launch into an event. she suggests that you should wait to add products to your shop until you have a nice little collection of similar items. then when you are ready to release your collection, you create as much buzz as possible. the collection launch then becomes an event that other people can really get involved in.

so i really LOVE this idea. i am thinking about a way that i can incorporate this into my own business. granted, i don’t have a huge following yet, so i would have to work with the connections that i already have. and who knows, maybe some of the bigger blogs and press would like what they see.  i think they would be more likely to give press to a collection than just one or two paintings. you just never know!

here is an example of a collection that i could have done with pieces that i have already released. it is collection of paintings with birds in them.

so what are your thoughts about doing a collection? i think i might just start planning one for the fall.

the collection idea is great! and fall sounds wonderful, but i think a summer one first would be a treat! 😉 most of yours seem more spring-ish. but of course, i love fall.

I like the idea of a collection, though I’m still mystified about pulling one together myself (I tend to bounce around and back and forth a lot between “styles”).

I think showing a collection is a great idea, but like Beth, your paintings are more “spring-ish”. Your use of color is great in those paintings!
